WestK Performing Arts presents the Hong Kong premiere of Lunar Halo by Taiwan’s world-renowned Cloud Gate Dance Theatre, illuminating the Grand Theatre of the Xiqu Centre at WestK on July 10 and 11, with an additional matinee on July 12 after the tickets were quickly sold out.
Marking the company’s highly anticipated return after seven years, the production also celebrates the first Hong Kong appearance by Artistic Director Cheng Tsung-lung since taking the helm. Inspired by the rare and enchanting lunar halo, this visually stunning work transforms a celestial phenomenon into a poetic exploration of change, perception, and the evolving relationship between humanity and technology. 14 dancers command the stage with electrifying physicality, moving through dynamic solos, emotionally charged duets, and exhilarating ensemble sequences that pulse with energy and intensity.
An outstanding international creative team brings this vision to life, featuring an ethereal score created by Icelandic post-rock icon Sigur Rós and striking visual and video design by Jam Wu and Ethan Wang. Monumental LED screens and mirrored staging expand the choreography into immersive, dreamlike worlds where digital imagery and human movement intertwine.
Tickets for the additional performance (July 12, 3pm) are now available through Cityline, Damai, Xiqu Centre Box Office, and WestK Mini Programme on WeChat. For the latest programme and ticketing details, visit WestK’s website.
