A Language of Their Own

A powerful story of the gay Asian experience

After a sell-out run last year, Pink Alliance and New York-based Two Lions Productions bring back A Language of Their Own. This moving theatrical piece takes a look at the gay Asian experience in Western culture with a frank yet humourous bent, exploring sex, abandonment and cross-cultural challenges, as well as the wide-reaching ramifications of living with HIV.

Great show, really got into it, frank and funny, the four actors took us on a journey through the lives of gay Asian men in America with a focus on sex, AIDS, splitting up, cross-cultural challenges, issues that can be relevant to gay men all over the world. Chay Yew wrote a tight engaging script. Good to have gay drama in Hong Kong pushing the boundaries, like 'Wolf in the House'  local gay play in Cantonese last year by HK Rep, and  CRYSTAL, next week at the HKUBlackBox, Hong Kong junkie drag queen falls for straight younger man, bound together with crystal meth. Gay drama in Hong Kong also helps in the bid to make Hong Kong hosts for Gay Games 2022, an open and inclusive city.
