The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra launches Swire Symphony Under The Stars as a virtual concert
Time Out says
The signature concert moves online for the first time on December 12 at 7.30pm
The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra's Swire Symphony Under The Stars concert, which has always been held as a large outdoor event, is an annual occasion and an unmissable event for many. This year, the event not only goes online, but it will premiere as an interactive experience, capturing people's messages of gratitude and hope and asking them to be the stars of the concert as part of the 'Your Starry Moment'.
As part of the campaign, audience members had the opportunity able to send a photo of their special someone or something in their lives and share it at the concert. The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra will then display a collage of all the photos set against the music of the concert to create a superbly unique and personal performance this year.
The concert will showcase works by a range of musical greats including Copland, Mozart, Bizet, Vivaldi, Debussy, and Bernstein for a fantastically uplifting concert. Combined with the photo collages, animations, and multi-media effects, the visually and aurally stunning concert will be presented on the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra's website, YouTube channel and Facebook page. Accessible by all across the world, this online event hopes to bring images of joy and aspiration paired with classical music to a global audience.
Curated by the creative director of this year’s event, Phoebus Chan will be joined by renowned conductor Lio Kuokman at the podium, along with musicians Jing Wang (Concertmaster), Richard Bamping (Principal Cello), Andrew Simon (Principal Clarinet), Lin Jiang (Principal Horn), and other members of Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.
