Ahead of BigBang’s upcoming world tour concert in Hong Kong, fans in the city can already get a taste of G-Dragon with his brand-new collaboration with McDonald’s. The Korean musician is launching this time-limited menu and periphery merchandise across 13 markets in Asia, and for the first time ever, Hong Kong will get our drop at the same time as the launch in South Korea.

Starting from September 17, a new series of Korean-inspired food items will be available at McDonald’s across Hong Kong. The star of the show is the special Gochujang Butter sauce, developed by and directly imported from South Korea’s Maccers. The mild spice and savoury depth of the Korean gochujang chilli paste is offset by the smoothness of butter, for a sweet and spicy flavour.

It is this very sauce that will be featured in the Gochujang Butter K-Crispy Thigh Burger, which combines a whole fried chicken thigh, a pineapple slice, and romaine lettuce. Chicken McNuggets can now also come with a Gochujang Butter dipping sauce.

Keeping with the Korean theme, two time-limited flavours for Shake Shake Fries are also available: Korean barbecue and the return of the popular Honey Butter powder sachets. Customers can upgrade their Extra Value Meals for $9.50 to include the Shake Shake Fries and a new Jeju Satsuma Nata de Coco soda.

This GD collab extends to desserts as well. We’re getting the Sweetheart Crunchy Oreo McFlurry, which comes with pink heart-shaped crispy bits, along with Salted Caramel Mini Churros. The packaging for these special food items, and even the McDonald’s paper bags, will feature designs inspired by G-Dragon’s brand PeaceMinusOne, with daisy motifs and red love hearts.

But there’s more than just food! McDonald’s Hong Kong will also roll out exclusive merch in phases, with limited-edition ‘I’m M Fan’ collectible cards launching on September 21, followed by merchandise produced in collaboration with PeaceMinusOne on September 23. GD fans will want to get their hands on the retro Maccer’s cap, badge pins, and the canvas tote bag. Are you more excited for the food or the merch?
