Gwen Stefani to headline the inaugural Hong Kong Sevens Festival

Gwen Stefani

This shit is b-a-n-a-n-a-s. Grammy award winner and former frontwoman of ska band No Doubt Gwen Stefani is returning to Hong Kong for the first time in over a decade to headline the inaugural Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens Festival, which will be taking place at Central Harbourfront Event Space on April 5.

While there’s always been a kick-off concert ahead of the hugely popular Hong Kong Sevens tournament, which will take place on April 5-7 this year and sees 40 teams from 34 international rugby unions compete for the championship title, the Hong Kong Sevens Festival will be a whole different beast altogether and at a much bigger scale.

The Hollaback Girl singer will not only help kick off the massive calendar event, but the gig is also part of the newest “Sevens Central” where the party atmosphere and entertainment will be spilling over to Central Harbourfront. The event will bring live music and live screenings of the rugby action on a big screen on April 6 and 7, so Hongkongers can also join in the three-day revelry at Hong Kong Stadium. You know, since tickets are so hard to come by.

Tickets are priced at $780 and are available via ticketflap.com. Better get your hands on them soon as it’ll no doubt (pun totally intended) be sold out fairly quickly.
