Japanese camera brand Yashica has just announced the global launch of Yashica Funtastic, a new line of ultra-compact keychain cameras that just might give Kodak’s Charmera a run for its money.
Weighing a feather-light 22g and measuring a tiny 6.3 x 2.2 x 2.5cm, the Funtastic camera is built as a wearable fashion accessory that can clip directly onto your tote bag, belt loop, or keys. The idea is to turn daily documentation into something visible and style-focused, keeping a shutter button ready the second a meaningful moment appears.
The collection has launched with four adorable editions. The Classic Hello Kitty edition ($218), which comes in the character’s iconic red colour, is perfect for fans of the Sanrio world, while Snoopy lovers can pick up the Snoopy’s Summit camera ($218) with a green camping theme, or the Snoopy Sweet Dreams Home edition ($218) featuring a vibrant yellow palette. Finally, the Yashica Boy edition ($198) is a nod to Japanese design and maritime storytelling available in light blue.
Apart from the cute design, a distinct feature of the camera is its 180-degree flip screen, making it easy to frame casual selfies, travel moments, and quick video clips. Instead of focusing on technical perfection, the device is explicitly designed around ease of use, group shots, and capturing real-time memories with your loved ones. Camera images are saved as JPG files and videos as 30 FPS AVI files, with four built-in filters included to provide a lo-fi look. The device also charges via USB Type-C and has a built-in 200mAh battery, requiring a separate Micro SD card from 4GB up to 64GB to operate.
