Prepare to geek out and freak out – here’s the scoop on what’s in store this year

It’s time to dust off your best wigs and plan your costume – Ani-Com & Games Hong Kong is back! This year, the convention is pulling out all the stops to deliver its biggest edition to date. To help you navigate the glorious chaos of cosplayers, manga and anime, video games, and more, we’ve put together your ultimate survival guide, covering everything from ticket options and priority entry to the most anticipated highlights of the weekend.
The five-day event is returning to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from July 24 to 28. For the first time ever, the event is expanding to take over Halls 1, 3, and 5, making this the largest layout in the convention’s history.
General opening hours run from 10am to 9pm daily, though Halls 3 and 5 will open slightly later at 11am. If you’re planning to visit on the final day, keep in mind that the event will wrap up an hour early, closing its doors at 8pm on July 28.
First things first – there will be no physical ticket booths at the venue, so you must purchase your tickets in advance. General admission tickets for those aged 12 and above are priced at $50, while child tickets for ages three to 11 cost $25 (kids aged two and under can enter for free). And if you want to skip the dreaded queues, be sure to opt for the $150 Fast Pass.
As for those interested in visiting only specific areas of the convention, a new Hall 3 ticket is available for $30, which grants access to Hall 3 and the CosParadise areas in Hall 5F and G. Meanwhile, overseas visitors will have a separate arrangement, with adult tourist tickets priced at $80 and child tourist tickets at $25, both available at an on-site ticketing counter.
To purchase these tickets digitally, you can head over to the official ACGHK App. If you prefer a physical ticket, regular $50 general admission passes can be bought from today onwards at any 7-Eleven or Circle K convenience store across Hong Kong.
If your main goal is to marvel at the sheer creativity of the local cosplay community – or show off your own gear – CosParadise is where you want to be. This year, the zone is split across Halls 3 and 5. Due to its popularity, the organisers have introduced a capacity limit and a paid pass system to keep things manageable, meaning free entry is no longer an option, and all cosplayers and photographers must secure their passes via the ACGHK App.
The Cosplayer Pass is priced at $50 per day and is capped at 4,500 passes daily, while the Photographer Pass costs $220 per day, capped at 600 passes daily. Both passes grant the perk of unlimited same-day re-entry to the Hall 3 venue.
Nobody likes waiting in line overnight on the hot concrete of Wan Chai. To save your sanity, the organisers are bringing back their real-name registration raffle for a head-start entry. From now until July 15 at 11.59pm, you can register via the ACGHK App to join the priority queue. There will be a random draw for each of the first two days (July 24 and 25), where 300 winners will be assigned pre-determined entry slots from 1 through 300. If registrations fall under 300, the system will randomise the entry sequence for everyone registered.
With three massive halls to cover, you’ll want to map out your journey to catch all the star-studded arrivals. A brand-new zone called ‘Dig Dig Island’ debuts this year as a dedicated hub for trendy art toys, designer figures, and rare collectables. Meanwhile, the upgraded ‘ComixPop’ zone sees local comic artists taking over Hall 3, offering fans an intimate space to buy independent works, get autographs, and chat with local creators.
Over on the main stage, the incredibly popular hololive VTuber duo ‘ShishiWata’ featuring Tsunomaki Watame and Shishiro Botan will make a virtual landing for a highly anticipated fan meeting. Acclaimed Japanese voice actor Kengo Kawanishi, famous for voicing Muichiro Tokito in Demon Slayer, will also be performing live on stage.
Check the official ACGHK website for the full venue map and schedule details.
