Caffeine fiends, we have a weekend activity you’ll love! For two weekends, The Mills is collaborating with BGBMHK again to present the Urban Brew Summit, bringing together over 50 standout coffee brands from Japan and Hong Kong.

The exclusive Overseas Coffee Experience Zone spotlights 11 premier independent roasters and specialty coffee spots from across Japan – spanning Tokyo, Kyoto, Okinawa’s Iriomote Island, Hayama in Kanagawa, Yokohama, and Kanazawa. Among these Japanese artisans who are flying in to hand craft their signature brews are some independent micro-roasters making their first-ever appearance in Hong Kong, so if you’re missing a taste of coffee in Japan, the solution is to make the much shorter trip to Tsuen Wan.

Don’t worry about getting the caffeine jitters, because the festival also has other offerings that will allow you to pace your coffee intake. Over 40 popular specialty cafés, bakeries, and pastry makers will also be around to visit for free, including Manteigaria with its Portuguese egg tarts, Wave Patisserie serving French pastries, and Soul Coffee & Matcha by IDFC with signatures like their Matcha Strawberry, French Caramelised Banana Toast, and Coconut Hojicha.

There will also be a vinyl music experience onsite, with Basement X holding a time-limited pop-up. Flick through over 100 selected records ranging from jazz, R&B, and more that will be played live and are also available for purchase. We dare you to find more chill weekend plans than records, coffee, and snacks.

Urban Brew Summit’s market and pop-up store is free to enter, while the Overseas Experience Zone with all the Japanese roasters requires ticketed entry, limited to 40 guests per session for a more intimate experience with the master artisans. A basic ticket ($220) includes three 80-ml coffee tastings and a dedicated tasting cup. Get the basic ticket with an early-bird package price ($350) to receive the cup, the tastings, as well as a sticker pack of Japanese coffee brands, and a lucky bag containing either 100g of Japanese coffee beans, a Dark Arts Coffee t-shirt, one box of drip coffee bags, or a cap.

The festival runs from September 24 to 27, and from October 1 to 4, across Mills 4 and 6 in The Mills.
