Time Out says

4 out of 5 stars

Amplitude is a hip, contemporary-styled bar furnished with sleek white leather seats, sharp lines and azure lighting illuminating  the bar area. Located on the first floor of the newly opened Hotel Sav in Hung Hom, colour is an important theme throughout. The menu is separated into orange, red, yellow, pink, green, purple and blue, with a specific cocktail and mocktail assigned to each colour. We select the pink cocktail ($90), which is a vodka-based offering with strawberry, milk and rose syrup. It tastes like a spiked strawberry milkshake and goes down just as easily. Drinks are reasonably priced and a steal during the buy-one-get-one-free happy hour that runs from 5.30pm to 8.30pm seven days a week.

Since the hotel restaurant is located on the same floor, the food menu offers everything from bar snacks to main courses and desserts. The Sav club sandwich ($168) is well executed, with the bread perfectly toasted and the fillings fresh and flavourful. The pleasant food and drink are accompanied by a background soundtrack of hip hop and R&B, which matches the young, laid-back vibe of the entire establishment.

The whole thing is a slick experience, but if there’s one thing to improve it’s the logistics, as there’s no dedicated taxi stand outside of the building. This might be because the hotel only recently opened, but stressing over how to get home after a night of merry making is a bum note to end on. Stephanie Ko
