D17
They let you mix and match your choice of crustacean here, depending on what’s available from the market on the day. For a plate of a dozen oysters, they charge $388 for takeaway, with 15 per cent off when dining in. 17/F Continental Diamond Plaza, 525 Hennessy Rd, Causeway Bay, 3907 0090. $388 per dozen.

Dot Cod Seafood Restaurant and Oyster Bar
This is where the big boys go for beers and oysters. And not just oyster, but crab, mussels, and lobsters too. Large plasma screens show the game of the day, and the socially-conscious kitchen doesn’t serve endangered fish. B/F Prince’s Bldg, 10 Chater Rd, Central, 2810 6988. Market price.

Fish bar
The thing about Fish Bar is that it has limited supplies of the freshest catches. When it runs out, it’s out, and that’s kinda how we like it. We especially like the trio of sweetcorn, mash, and cream spinach that comes with each dish. Reservations strongly suggested. JW Marriott, 88 Queensway, Admiralty, 2841 3858. $155 for a dozen oysters.

Le 188
If you enjoy all that life has to offer, like Champagne, oysters and a world-class view, you’ll find all of the above at this newly unveiled diner in the sky. 41/F Harbour Grand Hong Kong, 23 Oil St, North Point, 2121 2693. $38 per oyster.

Mandarin Grill
Luxe décor, menu, and service are served in spades at this power dining spot. Lunch and dinner, they are packed out with smartly dressed parties looking for a fine meal and a little wheeling and dealing. On ice, they have everything you could ever desire. 1/F, Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong, 5 Connaught Rd, Central, 2825 4004. Market price.

Oyster Bar
If international service, and exciting vistas are what you’re after, then the Sheraton is the place to go in TST. They’ve also got a great by the glass wine selection to go with your choice of crustacean. 18/F, Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel & Towers, 20 Nathan Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui, 2369 1111. Market price.

Press Room
Cherry stone clams often take a backseat to the glorious oyster, but not here, where the large sweet clams shine. And since their supplies get shipped in two to three times a week, you’ll get nothing but the freshest. G/F, 108 Hollywood Rd, Sheung Wan, 2525 3444. Seafood platter $390, $65 per cherry stone clam.

Peak Lookout
A Hong Kong treasure, this restaurant almost went out of business a few years ago due to exorbitant rent. But we’re glad they’ve sorted that out now; we’re also appreciative for their excellent raw bar, and its large selection of oysters, clams and lobster. Try them all sitting in the sunshine overlooking the Southside. 121 Peak Rd, The Peak, 2849 1000. Starting from $186 for half dozen oysters.
