Best known for its Cantonese-style barbecue items including their beautifully charred and caramelised char siu, Sun Kwai Heung (新桂香燒臘) is one of the city's top local roast meat shops and is located in Chai Wan.
Sun, which means new in Chinese, refers to the fact that this is the second Kwai Heung restaurant. The original Kwai Heung was sold to three employees in 1994 and became Sun Kwai Heung. It has now been in business for over 40 years and remains one of the go-to spots for Hong Kong-style siu mei.
The shop is quite small with only a few tables and chairs, so many prefer to take away the roast meats and enjoy it at home.
