The brainchild of long-standing Hong Kong tailor Bonny Yuen, this little shop in Central Market is filled with tartan prints – as the name suggests, they specialise in garments made with Scottish tartan. In fact, Yuen is the only tailor in Hong Kong who knows how to properly craft a Scottish kilt, though with this project he also makes bags, hair accessories, headware, and more by hand.
In 2021, Tartan launched a brand-new Hong Kong tartan design called ‘Passion of Hong Kong’ that’s uniquely steeped in local spirit, and had the pattern officially catalogued in The Scottish Register of Tartans under the Scottish government. In 2023, another design sprung to life in ‘Lion Mountain’, clearly inspired by our city’s famous Lion Rock. If you like your fashion with a good dose of history, Tartan by Yuen’s Tailor is for you.
