Back again in time for the likes of Art Central and Art Basel Hong Kong in March, this year’s Absolut Art Bar is popping up at Potato Head with an exciting new installation by Portuguese-born, Hong Kong-based artist João Vasco Paiva.
Entitled ‘Room Service’, Paiva’s work takes inspiration from the asethetics of Terrence Malick’s 1998 Pacific War film A Thin Red Line and Hindi vernacular architecture to present the artist’s idea of a retreat from the urban environment and a melding of the city and nature.
Consider the lofty concept over cocktails designed by Paiva in collaboration with Potato Head mixologist Kamil Foltanto such as the Paddy Button, pictured above, a mix of Absolut Elyx vodka, HavaClub seven-years rum, Sichuan pepper-infused maple syrup, smoke and peat bitters. While doing so, relax to the sounds of the specially curated music programme, which features a series of live acoustic sets followed by DJ performances later in the evening.
