Peckham clubs
Here's where to find the best after-hours fun in the area dubbed 'the new Dalston'
Peckham is on the rise, dubbed 'the new Dalston': there's more going on than ever in this exciting London area and neighbourhood. Find the hottest clubs in Peckham, and check out the best of Peckham nightlife here. Do you agree with the choices? Use the comments box below or tweet your suggestions.
Bussey Building
One of the many sources of Peckham pride, this incredible post-industrial building is simply one of London's best venues. Saved from demolition in 2007 by a dedicated team from community group Peckham Vision, this multi-floored concrete block has thrived as a warehouse-style club, with top promoters consistently bringing in some of the best names on the underground and alternative dance scenes, across pretty much any genre you care to name, The Bussey also hosts regular nights that offer more accessible sounds, including Zonk Disco and The South London Soul Train, all of which makes it one hell of a draw the whole year round.
Canavan's Peckham Pool Club
The Bussey Building may have tipped the spotlight onto Peckham's musical wares, but those looking for a more intimate, underground and, dare we say it, authentic location for their beats and bleeps can often be found trekking further up Rye Lane to Canavan's. It's a functioning pool hall and local-ish boozer on most nights, but those with a keen eye will spot the occasional (and increasing) night of deep dance delights, showcasing a selection of underground DJs and producers at nights like Rhythm Section, currently Canavan's most regular party. Don't expect contrived basement glamour here – do expect plenty of genuine, scruffy charm, cheaper booze than most and a down-to-earth approach to some superb electronic music.
