One of London’s most acclaimed cocktail bars closed temporarily in May because of a fire. But Tayēr + Elementary aren’t letting the fact their Old Street original is shut stop them from serving drinks.

Tayēr + Elementary will be opening up a pop-up bar in the basement of new Covent Garden cocktail spot Cato for the rest of the summer. Casual by Tayēr will run from July 15 to August 22.

Speaking about the residency, Tayēr + Elementary’s co-owner Monica Berg commented: ‘Casual by Tayēr is our way of staying connected to the people who have supported us, even as we navigate an unexpected moment of change. This residency gives us the freedom to be playful, responsive, and a little spontaneous to create something that feels fresh while still rooted in the values that define Tayēr + Elementary.’

What does this mean? This means cocktails! The semi-legendary One Sip Martini will of course be on offer, as well as a number of the bar’s other classic serves. It’ll be open every Wednesday to Saturday from 6pm to 1am.

Tayēr + Elementary took an impressive 5th place in the 2025 ranking of the Worlds Best Cocktail Bars. It was one of seven London establishments that featured in the latest list of Europe’s 50 Best Bars.
