[title]
It’s hot, it’s sticky and we’re not going to complain about it, because London in the sunshine is the greatest city in the entire world. Happily, there are some extremely fitting openings set for June, including a lavish ice cream parlour in Soho and a boozer with a massive beer garden in Stoke Newington.
And in what will come as very good news to people in south London who like baked things, there’s a brand new branch of Camberwell’s legendary Toad Bakery set for Deptford.
Here’s the best of June.

The 10 best new London restaurants opening in June 2026
1. The one with an amazing young chef
No. Forty Nine, St John’s Wood
We recently named Ella Williams as one of the best young chefs in London and she’s now bagged her first ever head chef role. Coming from the kitchen of Peckham’s hip Hausu, she’s crossed the river to St John’s Wood, where she’ll be leading the team at the newest restaurant from the same group as the excellent Cinder. An all-day bakery and bistro, No. Forty Nine will offer Mediterranean-meets-New-York dining, with dishes like cornbread madeleines with scotch bonnet honey butter, tagliolini with prawns and crab choux buns on offer, alongside a special mini pizza menu. We’re also deeply interested in the Baby Guinness sundae.
Opens: June
Address: 49 St John’s Wood High Street, NW8 7NJ
2. The sweet soul food one
Appalachia, Shoreditch
Open for just under three years, intimate 16-head chef’s table spot Counter 71 was a great restaurant. But it’s farewell Counter 71, and hello to Appalachia. The space has been given a proper revamp; new name, new menu, new decor and a new head chef in Alistair Borer, formerly of Smoking Goat. The vibe now is the American South, with fiery soul food such as smoked eel and jalapeño deviled eggs, oysters with tomatillo and scotch bonnet, BBQ whole quail with blue cheese slaw, grilled poussin with grits, and country-fried rabbit with chorizo gravy, as well as pork chop with collard greens.
Opens: June 3
Address: 71 Nile Street, N1 7RD
3. The New York one
Buvette, Covent Garden
In the Neal’s Yard shopfront once occupied by a St John Bakery (as well as the space next door) comes New York import Buvette. The London branch will join openings in Paris, Tokyo and Seoul, and offer all-day French fancies, from waffles and croques for breakfast and brunch through to salad niçoise for lunch, and coq au vin and cassoulet for dinner.
Opens: June 4
Address: 2 Neal’s Yard, WC2H 9DP
4. The cold one
Ice Cream Union, Soho
The central London opening of Ice Cream Union’s Soho parlour has been timed perfectly. Joining their Bermondsey and Chelsea sites, this chilly flavour factory will be your summer go-to, with all manner of sorbets and ice creams to keep you cool when it’s sweltering. We suggest smashing a cone of banana split before making your way through the rest of the menu.
Opens: June
Address: 8 Ganton Street, W1F 7QP
5. The PIY (pour it yourself) wine bar
Vagabond Wines, Soho
It’s all go over on Ganton Street this summer. As well as sorting out your sorbet cravings, this is the road to come to for vino, with a new branch of Vagabond Wines. Their self-pour set-up means you can help yourself to 120 wines (maybe not all in the same evening) across two floors. It’s Vagabond’s biggest bar to date, and their 12th in London.
Opens: June 24
Address: 14-16 Ganton Street, W1F 7BT
6. The buzzy bakery
Toad, Deptford
The word ‘cult’ gets bandied around a lot when it comes to London food spots, but there are some places which are deserving of hyperbolic status. Among them is Camberwell’s Toad Bakery, which serves immaculately laminated wares to south London’s hungry carb crew. The pastry nirvana is now doubling its flaky footprint, opening at a bigger site in Deptford, complete with an open kitchen and espresso machine.
Opens: June
Address: St Paul’s House, Deptford High Street, SE8 4BX
7. The Stokey boozer
The Mary Wollstonecraft, Stoke Newington
Popular Stokey bar Ryan’s recently closed after 32 years in business, but Nick Bailey of The Robin in Stroud Green will be relaunching the pub this month. It’s named in honour of local hero and 18th-century writer, philosopher and feminist, Mary Wollstonecraft. Hopefully, it’ll go down better than the controversial statue of her in Newington Green, which was unveiled a few years ago.
Opens: June
Address: 181 Stoke Newington Church Street, N16 0UL
8. The classy new cocktail festival
Taste The Orient, across London
Fancy a cocktail made with fermented tuna? It’s your lucky month. For one week only, the brand new Taste The Orient cocktail festival (run by The Orientalist Spirits and London Cocktail Week) will be popping up at Asian bars across London, offering drinkers the chance to taste the rare and delicious likes of fresh mangosteen, Okinawan black sugar, and Buddha's Hand citrus fruit. Our picks? The herbal Martinez at Time Out favourite Bar Lotus on Kingsland Road, the Citrus Ritual at Opium Chinatown (that’s the one with the Buddha’s Hand), and the Meadow flights at Kioku by Endo at The OWO, a three-drink offering including one cocktail which uses katsuobushi (dried fermented tuna) alongside white miso and jasmine.
Runs: June 22-28
9. The Michelin-starred Mexican residency
Los Félix at The Ned’s Malibu Kitchen, City of London
Miami’s Los Félix is taking a month-long holiday to London and is bringing its Michelin-starred Mexican food with it. Taking over The Ned’s Malibu Kitchen from June 4, you’ll be able to dine on tuna tostadas with wakame seaweed, chipotle criollo and caviar, as well as corn dumplings with sorrel, pepitas macha, caviar, and nasturtium. We’re particularly taken by the promise of pork cheek carnitas with orange and chilli.
Opens: From June 4, for one month
Address: 27 Poultry, EC2R 8AJ
10. The huge Indian icon
Haldiram’s, Leicester Square
Founded in 1937, Haldiram’s is India’s largest sweets and snacks brand, available in more than 80 countries around the world. They also own more than 200 restaurants in India, and are about to open their very first UK joint. The 3,000 square foot site will seat 120 people, with a heated outdoor space offering an additional 20 seats. As for the menu, we can expect dishes like north Indian chickpea curry chole bhature, a Mumbai-style vegetable curry and raj kachori, a large, crisp shell with chaat fillings. Oh and plenty of sweet treats.
Opens: June
Address: 19-20 Irving Street, WC2H 7AU
