Friday

Get out a bow tie and suspenders, and pull together a parasol and pearls: Dapper Day is headed to LACMA. Like the biannual Disneyland meet-ups, attendees are encouraged to dress up in (mostly vintage-inspired) sophisticated digs. This time around, Dapper Day is celebrating the Reigning Men fashion exhibition with a museum and Jazz at LACMA meet-up.

Spend a music and art-filled evening outside the Natural History Museum during the latest installment of Summer Nights in the Garden. Learn how to make flower crowns and pickle things while sipping on cocktails made fresh from the museum's garden at this free bimonthly series.

Get weird on Friday night as Weird Al Takes the Bowl. The master of pop-song parodies is taking more than two decades of hilarious tunes and polka jams to the Hollywood Bowl, backed by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.

Saturday

Have a free acai bowl at Amazebowls for brunch on Saturday during the opening of its first storefront in the Arts District. If the lines at their Smorgasburg LA stand are any indication, expect to find plenty of other people trying to get their hands on a bowl of frozen goodness.

Spend the day with some of the finest beat makers around during the Low End Theory Festival. LA's now legendary DJ night has expanded into a hip-hop and electronic festival at the Shrine Expo Hall, featuring the likes of Ghostface Killah & Raekwon, Daedelus, Prefuse 73 and more.

See what’s cutting edge in the city’s vibrant performing arts scene at the New Original Works Festival. REDCAT's annual showcase of artistic creativity includes video, dance and a musical, sculptural forest during its opening weekend.

Alternatively, spend a night out—literally outside—at the movies with tonight's best outdoor movie screenings: Cinespia shows The Muppet Movie, Eat|See|Hear screens 500 Days of Summer and Street Food Cinema shows both Mad Max: Fury Road and She's All That.

Sunday

Get your fill of seafood down in San Pedro on Sunday at the Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival. There’s a fine lineup of bands and, of course, tons of lobster—which, surprisingly, is all flown in from Maine.

If you're still hungry, take advantage of prix fixe lunch and dinner during DineLA Summer Restaurant Week. Some of this summer's top meal deals include seats at spots like E.P. & L.P., Fritzi, Knuckle & Claw and Plant Food + Wine.

Close out your weekend with plenty of patent leather and questionable wigs at the Johnny Ramone Tribute. This annual tradition at Hollywood Forever Cemetery—where the Ramones guitarist is buried—features vintage Ramones concert footage and music videos plus appearances by legendary punks Steve Jones (The Sex Pistols), Henry Rollins (Black Flag) and John Doe (X). This is a blitzkrieg bop you won't want to miss.
