A rock’n’roll beer hall has rum and ribs to boot
Ribs, craft beers and spiced rum are the order of the day at this delightfully divey Carlton bar. Packed with nautical tat, neon signs and blues tunes, this up-for-anything beer hall over-delivers on the good times. The Beaufort promises democratic drinking at its best, offering everything from $6 tinnies, picklebacks and Cherry’n’Jerry’s (that’s a punch-packing blend of cherry cola and Sailor Jerry rum) to an expertly made Negroni, lovingly stirred over hand-cut ice by owner Dave Kerr.
Out the back, Ike’s Rack Shack will keep you on an even keel for the rollicking night ahead. The menu runs the gamut of vegan ribs and iceberg salads to grilled beef heart and barbecued ox tongue. Somewhere in the middle sits the crowd-pleasing sweet spot of smoky pork ribs and smooshy cheeseburgers. And therein lies the beauty of the Beaufort: there’s something for everyone (except the douchebags).
