Black Star Pastry is leaving Melbourne with a goodbye party

Sadly for Melbourne cake lovers, we will soon have a watermelon layer cake-shaped hole in your lives when Black Star Pastry finally packs up their Melbourne pop-up in July. We knew this day was coming, but the loss of a killer dessert shop is still going to sting for fans of those sensational custard flan tarts.

The last day of trading for the Carlton pop-up is Friday June 30. To say goodbye to their cobbled laneway pop-up site in Carlton, Black Star Pastry will be hosting a big goodbye party on Sunday July 2, from noon to 6pm. We have a feeling that the last hurrah will be packed with teary Black Star groupies, but you can also expect lots of cake, booze and free skewers from Melbourne market favourites Hoy Pinoy.

Can't make it to the party? They'll be back in town later this year for Night Noodle Markets. The patisserie is also offering a special 10 per cent discount on all cake orders. All you have to do is order your cake online, select Carlton as your pick up location and use the promo code 'byefornow'.

Soothe your sweet tooth with our guide to the best patisseries in Melbourne.
