Need a feline friend in your life? If you've been thinking about bringing a four-legged buddy into your home, then now is the time. RSPCA Victoria is waiving its $120 adoption fee for cats from Thursday Jan 19-Sunday Jan 22. That's right, crazy cat ladies and gentlemen: for no money, you can give a homeless cat a forever home.

Every year, RSPCA cares for more than ten thousand cats; and even more so at the moment during 'kitten season'. Unplanned litters for domestic cats is a significant challenge for the RSPCA, and right now, there are more than 200 cats available for adoption across the state.

Not only will you not have to pay any adoption fee next week, but you won't have to worry about desexing, vaccinating, microchipping, or administering worm or flea medication to your new cat – they'll already be healthy and set to go.

"Adopting a cat from RSPCA Victoria means you'll be giving the cat the opportunity to have a long and happy life," says RSPCA CEO Dr Liz Walker. "We want to facilitate as many lifelong bonds between owners and cats as possible."

We doubt you need any convincing on why you'd want to adopt a cat. Not only are they calming, low maintenance and adorable, but they're also downright hilarious and arguably the best part of the internet.

To find your closest RSPCA Animal Care Centre, visit their website. Free adoption fee is available for all cats aged four months and over.

Unable to adopt a cat of your own? You could visit the Cat Café (whose residents are all rescue cats) or better still, consider volunteering at an animal shelter.
