Need a good reason to get out of bed on Monday morning? How about a hot, tasty sanga from Fancy Hank’s, free of charge?

Sandwiches are officially back on the menu at the beloved Bourke Street barbecue joint, and to celebrate they’re giving away a free one to their first 100 customers from noon on Monday September 4.

Five new sandwiches are on offer, including the beef brisket with cheese, Hank’s barbecue sauce and coleslaw; the hot smoked sausage link with pickled onions; and for the vegos, a buffalo-style fried cauliflower number with hot sauce, cheese and vegan ranch dressing.

Add on fries and a beer or soft drink for $7 and you’ve got a workday lunch that’ll make Gary from accounts with his Lean Cuisine stroganoff cry.

Co-owner Daragh Kan said that the new lunch menu was created in response to the steady flow of CBD office workers wanting a quick takeaway option.

Given Hank’s enduring popularity, the 100 free sandwiches are sure to be snapped up faster than you can say “extra hot sauce please”, so make sure to hotfoot it there as soon as the boss isn’t looking.

However once you’ve slammed down one of these bad boys we’d suggest slowly walking back to your desk, lest you get a brisket-induced stitch.

Fancy Hank’s new lunch menu is available from noon on September 4, 1/79 Bourke St, Melbourne 3000. The first 100 customers will receive one free sandwich of their choosing for dine-in or takeaway.

Got no time for queues? Here are the best takeaway lunches in Melbourne.
