If you love music, theatre, dance, opera, circus, or pretty much anything else on stage, then tixatsix might just become your new favourite thing.

Arts Centre Melbourne has announced a brand new initiative that will see at least 20 tickets become available from 6pm every single night – and they’ll cost just $30 each.

Yep, $30; and that could be a premium seat at an Opera Australia show, a gig at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, a classical music concert at Hamer Hall… anything that is at an Arts Centre venue could be up for grabs. All you need to do is rock up to the Arts Centre box office at 6pm and see what's on offer for the night.

Given that widespread access to the arts is often a sticking point for venues like the Arts Centre, tixatsix is a really positive development, and could genuinely change the way that Melburnians experience art in their city.

“We really thought hard about what were some of the barriers to entry to people coming to the Arts Centre, and we realise that price is one of those,” says Claire Spencer, CEO of Arts Centre Melbourne. “And so we thought… how much would people pay for a premium movie ticket? Let’s aim for that. You could end up sitting at a premium seat at the opera for $30.”

To help promote tixatsix, the Arts Centre have published a couple of adorable videos. Here’s our favourite:
