Time Out says

It’s been just shy of 40 years since Marty McFly burst onto our screens with time travel to a world that included smart watches, VR headsets, and flat screen TVs. Whether you watched the film when it first came out and were in awe of such inventions, or are watching the film back post-2015 when most of the gadgets are in fact a reality (bar flying cars unfortunately), the film is undeniably a beloved classic.

To evoke your nostalgia, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is putting on three exclusive performances of a rendition of Back to the Future that will rock your world. Composer Alan Silvestri’s film score from the movie will be brought to life by the full forces of the Orchestra, courtesy of the world-class musicians.

The film will be projected on a big screen while the thematic score is played live to match the projection. There’s even a special treat: about 20 whole minutes of new music, produced by Silvestri himself, will be played as well.

The performances are sure to give long time fans a real thrill with this spiced-up way to watch a comfort film. As for any Back to the Future newbies, we could think of no better way to experience the movie for the first time than with the extra thrill of a live film score.

The concert will take place at the Orchestra’s home, Hamer Hall, and while it seats over 2,500 people on three tiers, tickets are selling out fast. Tickets range from $74 to $154. Take your pick from performances on Wednesday, October 23, Thursday, October 24, and Friday, October 25, all starting at 7:30pm. Book your spot here for a performance that’s powered by 1.21 gigawatts of fun.
