Time Out says

The singer-songwriter has announced he will perform several dates Down Under for the first time in eight years

Mark your calendars, Melbourne. The chameleonic artist Chet Faker is performing several dates Down Under to support his latest album Hotel Surrender and new single ‘Something Like This’.

Often considered to be one of Australia’s most gifted musicians, the ARIA Award-winning artist will perform shows in Sydney and Brisbane, before hitting Melbourne’s Palais Theatre on October 12, 2023. The tour will be the Faker's first in eight years.

Nicholas James Murphy – known professionally as Chet Faker (a homage to the legendary jazz musician Chet Baker) – first rose to prominence in 2012 following his debut EP Thinking in Textures. His cover of ‘No Diggity’ by Blackstreet also saw Faker's music go viral. His 2014 debut album, Built on Glass, received widespread critical acclaim, debuting at number one on the ARIA Charts with the song ‘Talk is Cheap’ claiming the coveted top spot on Triple J’s Hottest 100.

Over the past decade, Chet Faker’s atmospheric and soul-influenced electronic music has seen him collaborate with the likes of Flume and Kilo Kish, and take to the stage at some of the world’s leading festivals, including Coachella and Lollapalooza.

In 2016, Chet Faker started recording under his own name Nick Murphy, and adopted a more soulful approach for releasing his sophomore full-length album Run Fast Sleep Naked. In 2020, he revived the Chet Faker social media accounts and released the single ‘Low’. More recently, in May 2023, Faker dropped the new single ‘Something Like This’ as a teaser for more music to come.

Scheduled to be his only Melbourne headline date of the year, Chet Faker will perform at the Palais Theatre on October 12. General tickets are currently on sale, and you can get them on the Frontier Website here.
