Time Out says

Take a trip to the Pride Lands and see this classic film like you never have before

If you’ve been craving a nostalgia fix that will take you right back to your carefree younger years, you’re in for a treat thanks to the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s latest show. The city’s mightiest orchestra is banding together with the legends over at Disney for a performance that will have you reliving the hakuna matata vibes of your childhood all over again.

Disney’s The Lion King in Concert will make its Australian premiere in February 2024 at the Plenary at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, just in time to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the beloved blockbuster film. This family-friendly performance will run at 1pm and 7.30pm on Saturday, February 3 2024.

Bring the whole family along to hear the MSO perform the Oscar winning songs from the film by Elton John and Tim Rice, alongside the score by Hans Zimmer.

You and the fam (or just you, no judgement!) will relive the magic of Simba’s journey through the Pride Lands, watching him learn about himself and make new friends along the way. You’ll feel the full symphonic power of the Oscar-winning score, conducted by Nicholas Buc, as the film plays on a huge screen above the orchestra.

The performance will run for just under two hours, including an intermission. Tickets are on sale now and you can get yours at the MSO website.
