Time Out says

Accompanied by the indie-folk band Fleet Foxes, the National are returning to Melbourne

In what can only be described as impeccable timing for those wanting a sad girl summer, the National have announced they are returning to Australia with Fleet Foxes for the first time in half a decade.

Hot on the heels of dropping the surprise latter half of their latest album, Laugh Track, the National have announced they will perform a show at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Tuesday, March 5 and Wednesday, March 6. The bands will also perform shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Perth.

Founded by lead vocalist Matt Berninger in 1999, the National are an American rock band hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio. Over the years, the melancholic rockers have headlined festivals around the world, worked with artists like Bon Iver and Taylor Swift, and won several awards, including a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album for 2017’s Sleep Well Beast. Audiencegoers can expect to hear their sorrowful – and sometimes soporific – tracks from across the years, including ‘Bloodbuzz Ohio’, ‘Fake Empire’, ‘I Need My Girl’ and ‘Light Years.’

Joining the National for the tour is one of indie folk’s most acclaimed acts, Fleet Foxes. Fronted by singer-songwriter Robin Pecknold, the Seattle-based band has garnered many followers over the years for their fusion of gospel, folk and harmony-rich baroque pop. As well as performing hit tracks like ‘Can I Believe You’ to ‘Mykonos’, Australians will have the chance to listen to live material from their latest album, 2020’s Shore.

Tickets to see the National are on sale from Friday, September 22, with the Live Nation pre-sale commencing on Thursday, September 21 at 11am. For complete tour and ticket information, visit the Live Nation website here.
