What better way to beat the blues than with blues itself? Well, buckle up because old-school Motown rockers the Teskey Brothers have recently announced a Melbourne date as part of their national headline tour of Australia and New Zealand.
Set to perform at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl on December 2, The Winding Way Tour from the ARIA-winning and Grammy-nominated band of bros comes hot on the heels of their highly anticipated third studio album, The Winding Way.
Recorded at Sydney’s Hercules Street Studios with producer Eric J Dubowsky (Flume, Chemical Brothers) and collaborators like string arranger Larry Gold (Kanye West, The Roots), the new album sees the Teskey Brothers reach new heights with soul-rock soundscapes and laid-back blues.
The Melbourne-based band was formed in 2008 by brothers Sam Teskey (guitar) and Josh Teskey (vocals), along with Brendon Love (bass) and Liam Gough (drums). The band's early heydays saw them playing in the streets and at parties, but soon enough, they caught the eyes and ears of record labels. In 2017, they released their debut album Half Mile Harvest which eventually became number one on the ARIA Independent Album charts.
Ever since, they have released classics like ‘Pain and Misery’ and ‘Crying Shame’, given high-profile sets at festivals such as Bluesfest and appeared on US shows Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. To top it all off, it has just been announced that the band will make their Glastonbury debut later this month.
