Two-wheel enthusiasts of Victoria, we’ve got news. This month, the first 30-kilometres of a brand new mountain bike park will start welcoming riders, with more stages due to open in autumn of 2026. Here’s what we know so far.
Stretching for 30 kilometres from Wesburn Park Trailhead to Dolly Grey Reserve through the beautiful bushland of the Yarra Ranges, the new trail is on track to open on Saturday, July 19. It's the first section of what will become the Warburton Bike Park, with this easy-grade stage a relatively beginner-friendly route that's perfect for families. These Stage 1A trails (the official classification) are a ride-in, ride-out design and not accessible by shuttle.
Just under two hour’s drive from Melbourne, the new trail network is set to become a fave for city-based riders looking for a weekend adventure – with some more challenging routes due to open in 2026.
The main access point will be via the Wesburn Park Trailhead, and for those connecting from the Warburton Rail Trail, a dedicated climbing track will link the network just outside of Warburton, with descending paths leading back to Dolly Grey Reserve.
To make the opening as smooth as possible (literally and metaphorically), Yarra Ranges Council has invested in improving nearby infrastructure including parking and adjoining roads.
The next stage of trails – which will eventually stretch to more than 100 kilometres – are due to open next year, with different terrain options to suit riders of every ability.
