Marking ten years since we lost one of our brightest acting talents, the National Film and Sound Archive in Canberra is presenting an exhibition of Heath Ledger's costumes, props, journals and personal effects.
Heath Ledger: A Life in Pictures, which opens on August 10, was curated with the Ledger family for the Western Australian Museum, and also includes the Oscar and BAFTA awards that Ledger won posthumously for his performance as the Joker in The Dark Knight.
A number of Heath-inspired screenings will accompany the free exhibition. In August, these include the films Ned Kelly, Monster’s Ball, The Brothers Grimm, I’m Not There and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. The program also includes films that inspired Ledger, such as James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause.
The NFSA will also be screening the documentary I Am Heath Ledger as part of its free daily program.
The venue is located on McCoy Circuit, in Acton, ACT and will be open daily from August 10 through to the exhibition's close in February.
