Just because it doesn’t snow in Melbourne doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy an igloo this winter. Over on the banks of the Yarra, the Wharf Hotel has opened a pop-up igloo garden for you to enjoy until mid-September.

Unlike their icy cousins, these antipodean igloos aren’t made of snow, but rather are transparent to best take advantage of those mint riverside views. Each igloo can fit four to seven people and comes packed with chairs, a low table and plenty of plush cushions and warm throws.

Booking an igloo will set you back $49 per person, which includes  your choice of beverage to share and either a fisherman’s basket or platter of Wharf Hotel favourites (such as buttermilk fried chicken and cheeseburger spring rolls).

It’s not the first time igloos have come to town, with Auburn Hotel also setting up a icy wonderland for winter.

Want more icy treats? Pidapipo has launched a new range of gelato cakes.

Or warm yourself up with a boozy hot Milo.
