Melbourne's Lost Dogs’ Home is an open-intake shelter, which means they will never turn away a pet in need. However, the animal shelter is currently in crisis mode with its shelters at capacity with over 700 cats and kittens currently in care.

The animal shelter is now asking Melburnians to adopt or spread the word to help them clear the cat shelter. For a limited time, the shelter will be reducing adoption fees for adult cats as well as pairs of kittens at its North Melbourne and Cranbourne shelters.

You can pick up an adult cat for just $25. Over 65 per cent of the cats in care at the shelter are adult cats and there’s actually so much to love about adult cats – read this if you need any more convincing.

There’s also the option to adopt a pair of kittens for $235 (it’s a mate’s rate fee) to help keep bonded kittens together. Single kittens will still be available for the standard adoption fee of $235. But think about it – double the kittens means double the cute cat cuddles.

You can see here the cats and kittens currently available for adoption. If you see a cute cat that you want to adopt, you can submit an application. The team will then be in touch to schedule an adoption appointment.
