Ding ding! One of Melbourne's new, high capacity metro trains is now stopping at Birrarung Marr.

During February 9 to 17, Birrarung Marr will be playing station to a life-sized model of one of Melbourne's brand new trains. Cease your water cooler speculation and see the swanky new high capacity train for yourself at 'Melbourne, meet your new train', a new pop-up event being put on by Transport Victoria.

The new trains are promising 20 per cent more room as well as increased comfort and accessibility. We can't speak for the seating space, but we do know the new trains will be even more accessible for those with wheelchairs, mobility devices and prams.

You'll be able to take a stroll though the new train, test out the seats and even get a squiz inside the driver's cabin – definitely not something you can do on your usual commuter train. There will also be activities on offer for junior passengers like colouring in, a cardboard train construction station and virtual reality.

Your last chance to test out the train is on White Night (February 17) when the train will be lit up with colourful light projections. Serious trainspotters take note: during 'Melbourne, meet your new train' you can also enter a competition to be one of the passengers on the new train's first passenger service.

This is one time you can leave your Myki in your wallet – 'Melbourne, meet your new train' is free and on from February 9-17 at Birrarung Marr.

Cranbourne-Pakenham passengers, the new trains are coming for you first.
