Oysters are great, but they're even better when they only cost $2 a pop. Pair it with a $15 glass of Champagne and you're in business.

East Melbourne's newest French brasserie and wine bar Hemingway's Wine Room is offering posh punters the chance to spend an opulent two hours every Wednesday between 5pm and 7pm knocking back oysters with mignonette and lemon with $15 glasses of Billecart-Salmon Brut Réserve Champagne NV. Looking for something different? There's sparkling sake or prosecco available by the glass too.

If you've merely whet your appetite with oysters and are looking for something more substantial, the bar snack menu also includes duck liver parfait served in a gold tin with cranberry jelly and croutons, charcuterie platters with fig marmalade, and Cajun-spiced polenta chips with parmesan cheese and aioli.

There's also an extensive wine list featuring some schmancy European drops if you're looking to up the ante.

Hemingway's Wine Room's oyster and Champagne Wednesdays will take place each Wednesday from 5-7pm at 150 Wellington Parade, East Melbourne.

Head to South Melbourne Market's latest oyster bar for daytime oyster snacking.
