Calling all party planners, event managers and marketing girlies – one of Melbourne’s most well-known warehouse venues just levelled up. The Timber Yard – long hailed as one of Victoria’s most versatile event spaces – has unveiled a mega $3 million transformation, and it’s ready to host a huge summer of events.
Located just ten minutes from the CBD, this sprawling industrial space has hosted everything from Ferrari and Lamborghini launches to Ministry of Sound parties, wine and cheese festivals, and Mecca product reveals. Now, after a full-blown redesign, it’s officially entering its next era – sleeker, smarter and more state-of-the-art.
According to the team, the $3 million revamp brings a moody new blackout aesthetic, full climate control (yep, no more sweating through summer parties), expanded amenities and architectural lighting that makes the whole place feel like a movie set. Following a $1.5 million AV upgrade, it’s now home to one of Victoria’s most advanced production setups, featuring a massive nine-metre LED screen, more than 100 moving lights, D&B Audiotechnik sound and enough plug-and-play tech to make even the most demanding production crew swoon.
But what really sets the Timber Yard apart is its chameleon-like ability to shift from gritty to glam in a heartbeat. The cavernous venue’s motorised retractable drapes and flexible floorplans mean it can scale from an intimate dinner to 2,000-person party – and still feel perfectly balanced. There’s even a mix of indoor and outdoor zones, so Melbourne’s famously unpredictable weather can’t kill the vibe.
“We’re constantly evolving so our clients and their guests have unique and impactful experiences, whether it’s their first or tenth time here,” says owner and director Adam McKenzie.
Bolder and more versatile than ever, the Timber Yard has cemented its rep as Melbourne’s blank canvas for brands, artists, cooks and creatives to think big.
