Vision Australia, the not-for-profit organisation that provides services for those within the blind and low vision community, needs your help. VA is currently seeking a number of carers to look after adorable seeing eye dog puppies.

As a volunteer carer, you’ll be providing a home for a seeing eye dog puppy. Your duty will also be to socialise the puppy as well as teach them basic skills like toilet training, to sit and walk on a lead without pulling. All equipment, food, dog health care, vet costs and training will be covered by VA, so the only cost to you is your time (and, of course, your affection!) You’ll be given support and guidance from Vision Australia’s seeing eye dogs team the entire time, too.

Puppy caring is needed in the following Victorian areas only: east Melbourne to the Yarra Ranges, south-east of Melbourne to Portsea, the Bendigo region and surrounding suburbs, as well as Kensington, Flemington, North Melbourne, Ascot Vale and West Melbourne.

You can sign up for an online information session here, and then apply to become a puppy carer here
