Summer's looking up, folks. The Continental Sorrento (AKA the Conti) is set to bless us all under the sweet Sorrento moon when it reopens in December 2021.

Publican Craig Shearer (the Terminus Fitzroy North) has been busy working on the multimillion-dollar redevelopment of this beloved seaside hotel. On top of that, chef-restaurateur Scott Pickett (Matilda, Estelle) is set to make it the ideal hang out spot for foodies.

The venue's shining diamond will be its signature restaurant, Audrey's, named after Pickett's grandmother who taught him how to cook. Audrey's will showcase everything from pub classics to more formal degustation menus. The venue itself will have a dedicated event space, a public bar, beer garden, conservatory, pool-side and street dining and 24-hour in-room dining. There's also a sunset roof deck with sprawling bay views that will be open for private bookings.

The venue has plans to reopen in December, right in time for the hot weather to hit the Mornington Peninsula. The 145-year-old destination will also include the new 108-room InterContinental Sorrento Mornington Peninsula, which will be managed by IHG Hotels and Resorts.
