Time Out says

Market Lane Coffee, one of the first specialty coffee shops in Melbourne, continues its reign with the success of its booming sustainable coffee business, and further openings of stores across Melbourne.

Market Lane has developed a cult-like following, serving its devoted community members with consistent, top-quality and ethically sound coffee for many years. The speciality coffee roaster and retailer has been dedicated to sourcing, roasting and spreading the joy of exceptional coffee across Melbourne since 2009. Through its continued success, Market Lane has kept its values of sustainable, respectful and responsible roasting close to its heart. Maintaining a close relationship with the coffee farmers, Market Lane works to celebrate and showcase a range of diverse beans, and to tell the stories of its producers.

Its not only the quality of the coffee that is taken seriously at Market Lane, but all aspects of the business, from the packaging choices, to the milk options available (don't come looking for skinny milk here), to the organic sugar purchased from Costa Rica, all the way to the dedication put in to training staff and educating customers about speciality coffee (look out for coffee classes, events, books and postcards).

In a significant achievement for the brand, Market Lane Coffee recently became a certified B Corporation, joining a global movement of organisations that champion using business as a force for good by engaging in advocacy and action for the benefit of the planet and the people, not just for the profits.

With popular spots across the CBD, Prahran, South Melbourne, Carlton, Brunswick East, and several outlets around the Queen Victoria Market complex, Market Lane Coffee has most recently popped up in the historic Mercat Cross Hotel building at the Queen Victoria Market. The new space was designed in collaboration David Goss from Studio Goss, who maintained a strong focus on preserving and celebrating the history and heritage of the building.

Hot tip: try your hand at securing one of Market Lane's coveted mushroom burgers, sold at the Queen Victoria Market and Prahran Market locations, on the weekends from 9am until sold out. You won't regret it.
