Right now, with restrictions finally rolled back, it's time to rediscover all the exotic pleasures of Queen Victoria Market that you've been missing. There are more than 200 small businesses excited to reopen their beloved specialty shops and stalls, cafés and restaurants after 30 weeks of closure (not including the short reopening between lockdowns), and you can support them as you shop. It’s a win-win.

Browse through locally and Australian-made clothing, homewares, jewellery, skincare, plants, art and books. Get some things for the house, treat yourself to some plant retail therapy, add to your iso-skincare routine, or shop for a new range of clothing to replace that hoodie and pair of leggings you've been rocking since March. Then finish up with a final shop for the week’s groceries and a meal at one of the market’s cafés or restaurants.

It hard to resist the crunch of the crackling in a fennel-rich hot porchetta roll from Q75, or the bitter tang of a local craft beer from Swords Wines as it washes down a smoky, garlicky grilled bratwurst from Bratwurst Shop and Co. Our hot tip: hit up Drums Café and try the kotthu roti, a combination of diced up godhamba roti and curry that you’ll dream about afterwards.

Now more than ever is the time to support Melbourne’s small, independent makers, creators and family-run businesses. Stallholders returned to the market from Thursday October 29, and the market is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays to Sundays.
