Time Out says

This celebration of women’s football is taking over Fed Square with a program of activities, performances, food and more

The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 is, for the first time, being staged at nine host cities across Australia and New Zealand and it’s nearly time for the adrenaline pumping action to begin. From July 20 until August 20, 32 teams will battle it out, with Melbourne hosting six matches at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium, from July 21 until August 8, including two rounds of 16 matches.

If you can’t make it pitchside, we’ve got some great news for you. Thanks to the FIFA Fan Festival, you can watch every single game of the tournament live on the big screen at Federation Square and soak in the atmosphere and excitement of the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023. The best part? It’s completely free.

No matter which of the 32 competing nations you’ll be coming out to support, there’ll be heaps of interactive activities, music and dancing to enhance your experience throughout the whole month. Here’s our rundown of the best things to do at the FIFA Fan Festival…

Bust some moves with Sycco

Aboriginal Australian singer-songwriter Sycco will be taking the Fed Square stage on Friday, July 21 for a high-energy performance, which is sure to get you even more pumped for the game. Rock up for this free set to hear their pop-flavoured hits like ‘Ripple’ and the appropriately named ‘Dribble’, before or after you tune in to the game.

Wear your team colours on your face

What better way to show your team spirit than to decorate your face in their honour? There’ll be free face painting available on various days throughout the month – just check online to see the full program for details.

Check out the Our Game Playground

Put your skills to the test with the penalty shootout simulator game or the goalie reaction timer at the Our Game Playground throughout the FIFA Women’s World Cup. If training your brain is more your style, test your knowledge with the trivia screen.

Make the most of half-time with an Indigenous dance workshop

The half-time break is a perfect opportunity to get up and move. Join the Indigenous Outreach Project for a series of special half-time dance workshops on select match days.

Catch a performance from Samantha Jade

Aussie singer-songwriter and X Factor winner Samantha Jade will grace the stage on Monday, July 31 to help keep the energy flowing. You could say she’s a real ‘Firestarter’, so she’ll definitely bring the party to Fed Square.

Operating hours vary, so check out the line-up here for more details.
