Take part in Melbourne's famous week-long carnival of horse racing

Take a break from the telly and get yourself down to Flemington to experience the race that stops the nation first-hand. The Melbourne Cup takes place on the first Tuesday of November each year as part of the Spring Racing Carnival.

Since starting in 1861 the Melbourne Cup has become the most prestigious race in Australia, attracting a significant number of international competitors and guests, as well as its own public holiday in Melbourne and some parts of regional Victoria. With tickets starting at under $100 you get all sorts of people at the race dressed up in their best fashions and fascinators.

Extend your race day experience by attending one of the other races across the Melbourne Cup Carnival. Preceding Cup Day is Derby Day on Saturday November 2, followed by the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday November 5, Oaks Day on Thursday November 7 and finally Stakes Day on Saturday November 9.
