Roll out the red carpet as Geelong Arts Centre has just unveiled a glittering line-up for its Grand Opening Festival with national treasure Jessica Mauboy as the headline act. Running from August 19 until September 23, the festival will include free and ticketed events celebrating the ceaseless power of stories, creativity and diversity.
Opening night on August 19 will not only include a performance by multi-award-winning R'n'B-pop artist Mauboy, but will also a comedy triple-act special with Dave Thornton, Dilruk Jayasinha and Lizzy Hoo.
The stellar line-up also includes performances by singer-songwriter Missy Higgins, Opera Australia and Belvoir St Theatre, family fun with Windmill Theatre Company, backstage tours and much more. To discover the full program of events for the Grand Opening Festival, click here.
The festival will also give the community a first look at the brand-new, world-class performance venue designed by Ian McDougall. The design strings together elements drawn from the history of Geelong and the continuing Wadawurrung connections to Country and First Nations culture, affirming its status as a UNESCO City of Design.
