One of Melbourne's best-known cafés, St Ali, is turning 15 on the first day of the new year, so the team have decided to throw an all-day party in the neighbouring laneway. It begins at an eye-opening 7am, so if you decide to party straight through, well, we won't judge you.
Internationally known chefs like Curtis Stone, Shane Delia and Andrew McConnell will be on the pans for the party, and the mathematically precise pastry chefs at Lune Croissanterie have created a bespoke croissant for the occasion.
There will be roving performances, a yoga class and DJ sets from Ali Barter, Hvncoq, Finding Figaro and Joey Lightbulb. There will also be prize giveaways of things like a year's supply of coffee and a top-of-the-line coffee machine.
Entry to the laneway festival is free, but you can book a spot at the café if you like.
