Head to Sarafian's Sunday Sessions at Starward Whisky Distillery for hummus, Gildas and cocktails

Bar Saracen's closure left a hummus-shaped hole in Melburnians hearts, but ex-head chef Tom Sarafian is here to fill them with the continuation of his Sarafian Sunday Sessions at Little Andorra.

However, on Sunday March 7, he's teaming up for a one-off event with Melbourne whisky distillery Starward Whisky. Come along and try his classic Middle Eastern-inspired barbecue dishes with whisky cocktail pairings at Starward Distillery.

Two sessions will take place on the day. Guests can expect a whisky cocktail upon arrival with the sounds of a DJ playing tunes all night long for $70 per person (plus booking fee).

As for the menu, you can expect Sarafian's famed hummus loaded with tender lamb and pine nuts (or barbecued mushrooms if you're vego) and Baker Bleu rolls to mop it up with. Then, try Gildas of anchovies wrapped around guindilla peppers, skewered with a labne-filled green olive, roasted red capsicum as well as pickled Turkish chilli. Charcoal chicken with toum will follow shortly after and namoura (an almond, coconut and semolina cake, soaked in an orange blossom syrup) will mark the end of your meal.

The menu can be altered for vegetarians, vegans and gluten intolerants, and cocktail pairings and mezze platters will be available to purchase at the bar all day.

Sessions will take place on Sunday, March 7 from midday to 5pm and 6pm to 10pm at Starward Whisky's Distillery50 Bertie St, Port Melbourne. Tickets are limited and can be booked here, but note that there's a maximum of ten guests per booking.
