Spend two days sipping shiraz at wineries around the Bellarine Peninsula

Summer is for rosé, winter is for shiraz. The brutally cold middle months of the year almost demand the bold, heavy flavours of the wine varietal, and nowhere is leaning into shiraz season more than Geelong.

The bayside city is bringing back its Winter Shiraz Weekend for two days of spicy, peppery wine from the local regions. This year there are 29 wineries participating across the Bellarine Peninsula, Moorabool Valley and Surf Coast wine regions. While every winery offers something a little different, you can be sure that there will be plenty of opportunities to meet the individual winemakers, purchase bottles on special and warm up with a glass and an open fire.

Some of the highlights for this year include a shiraz-inspired lunch menu at Basil’s Farm; a street food cooking class at Terindah Estate; a shiraz and cheese tasting at Barwon Ridge; and a classic American-style barbecue at Bellbrae Estate.

Head to the Winter Shiraz Weekend website for the full program of events.
