This might just be the best week of the year.
From Madonna to born-and-raised Montrealers, the tasty (read: addictive) combination of fries, cheese curds and gravy is one of the city’s most beloved cheap and iconic dishes. And just when we thought that holy trinity couldn’t get any better, enter La Poutine Week.
Kicking off at the beginning of February, restaurants across the province (and country!) will be offering their own version of poutine and the results are saucy.
Check out all the mouthwatering details here:
Poutine General Yen: Chanthy Yen
Crispy fried chicken glistening in General Tao sauce on a bed of french fries, cheese curds and homemade gravy? We can’t get enough.
Poutine America: Americas BBQ
Dig into smashed potatoes, cheese curds and grilled onions smothered in smoked gravy and pulled bbq ribs. Time Out Tip: Take it to the next and add brisket.
Caribbean poutine: Paul Toussaint
Spice up your (poutine) life with fried potatoes, sweet plantains and cheese curds sauced with Caribbean spicy gravy and loaded with pikliz. Add griot (Haitian seasoned pork) or jerk chicken on top for the win.
Poutine Pimento: Campo
We can’t stop thinking about the crispy Portuguese chicken sitting atop a bed of roasted peppers and red onions, cheese curds, São Jorge cheese and fries doused in Piri Campo sauce and homemade poutine gravy.
Iberian Poutine: Ibéricos
Indulge in a poutine with Iberian flair thanks to this combination of perfectly crisp fries, melted Manchego cheese, Iberian ham and gravy.
Le Gros Tony: Bossa
Parmesan fries go big with a savoury sausage gravy and lip-smacking banana pepper relish.
