Just in time for summer adventures, the Bernard Family Playground in Central Park has reopened after renovations, and little ones will be flocking to the space for some outdoor fun.

“Families who loved this little playground before will find it’s the same, only better," Lane Addonizio, vice president for planning at the Central Park Conservancy said in a statement. "[It's] still an ideal play space for pre-school aged children in an idyllic setting across from the Harlem Meer—enhanced and updated for the next generation of preschoolers to enjoy.”

Though this is the park's smallest playground, it certainly makes the most of its space. The venue, which came into existence in the '30s, includes a user-activated water spray feature (perfect for those summer scorchers), a sandbox with an accessible sand table and water source and brand-new play equipment and site furnishings, which includes benches. Even better? Bernard Family Playground is looking to provide a scenic view while tiny tots play. An enlarged and rotated swinging area puts the Harlem Meer in view.

When summer officially strikes, little ones are begging to stay in the sunshine. After a few laps around the playground, be sure to check out our roundup of the best things to do in Central Park with kids. Enjoy your adventure!
