Although we're experiencing what we hope will be the last bout of winter weather, it's time to fast forward and start thinking about the summer, so put down the mug of hot chocolate

It's never too early to start exploring cool day camps for kids, and one of the most coveted programs in all of NYC has some exciting news. Start counting down the days until March 1, when NYC Parks will host its lottery registration for its annual summer camp (which will continue until March 10). If you want your youngsters to look back on their 2019 vacation fondly, this is a way to ensure wonderful memories.

The camp, which will run from July 8–Aug 23 throughout various parks in the five boroughs, is open to little New Yorkers ages 6–13. It's truly a combination of the best summer activities for kids: sports such as tennis and golf, nature activities including canoeing and fishing, STEAM activities and even a few trips. Who wouldn't want to join the festivities?

Head to the Parks Department's application page for a chance to score a spot for your children. Note that regular day camp (9am–5pm on Monday through Friday) is $500 and extended day camp (8am–6pm Monday through Friday) is $575.

Good luck New Yorkers! We're keeping our fingers crossed that your kiddos earn a spot. Make sure to explore other fun summer activities, such as sleepaway camps in NY or sports camp programs
