When the holidays come to a close, it can be difficult to accept that we still have months of cold to endure.

The city might've lost a little bit of its seasonal magic—and we might not be quite as inclined to put up with snow and frigid temps—but there's no reason to sulk. One of our favorite winter activities for kids is underway. Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park is scheduled to host FrostFest 2020 from Jan 24–Feb 2, and it is filled to the brim with wintry goodness.

During the 10-day celebration, one of NYC's most beloved family attractions welcomes visitors to enjoy cold weather-exclusive activities, from bumper cars on ice to igloo visits. Here's what families can look forward to this year:

Ice Bumper Cars

The season's latest trend has captured the attention and Instagram feeds of New Yorkers. Now, the popular winterized amusement park ride will take over the ice rink. Before you hop in line, here are a few things to know:

  • Attendees must be at least 7 years old, 42 inches tall and under 300 pounds to participate
  • Those under 18 will need a parent or guardian to sign a waiver
  • One person per car: Children are not permitted to sit on adults' laps
  • You'll be able to secure a spot online ($17 per 10-minute session) in early January
  • Visitors can reserve open cars on a first-come, first-serve basis

Ice fishing

The word on Sixth Ave is that penguins have gone missing in Bryant Park—and have been discovered in the fountain. Bring your little ones to catch 'em on Saturday Jan 25 and Sunday Jan 26 at noon!

Igloos

Grab a cup of hot cocoa and wrangle up the kiddos for a fun outing in one of the park's igloos. Watch skaters and visitors pass by as you indulge in a sweet treat. Reservations will be available soon

Skating Showcase

Get a taste of the Olympics right in NYC as professional skaters (including Johnny Weir) show off their moves on the ice in a 45-minute showcase on Thursday, Jan 30 at 6pm.
