It's been a lengthy wait, but NYC will finally be treated to a dose of Hogwarts magic.

Beginning Oct 5, The New-York Historical Society will debut the UK-transplant exhibit, “Harry Potter: A History of Magic.” In honor of the beloved wizard's 20th anniversary, we will receive a sneak peek inside everything that went into the creation of J.K. Rowling's protagonist. Expect a taste of history, mythology, magic and literature thanks to the 150+ objects on display.

"Our exhibit explores the tradition of folklore that animate the Harry Potter series," Alice Stevenson, director of the NYHS's DiMenna Children's History Museum, tells us. "There are some really interesting objects that kids and adults alike will really enjoy."

So what can museum-goers expect? There will be rare artifacts from the British Library, Museum of Witchcraft & Magic and various other renowned venues. From JK Rowling's original sketches of Hogwarts and old manuscripts to ancient oracle bones, 20th century witches scrying mirrors and costumes from The Cursed Child production in the UK, there is certainly no shortage of artifacts to explore. If you and your crew are looking to celebrate Harry's anniversary to the fullest, make sure you scope out the museum's best family programs—book clubs (various dates), Harry Potter trivia (Oct 14 at 2:30pm) and many other epic offerings. (Fingers crossed you don't have a Hermoine in your trivia group who knows all the answers!)
