It's not often we look forward to NYC heat waves, but every once in a while, there are a few perks that come along with rising temperatures.
If your AC doesn't feel quite as powerful as it should, take comfort in the fact that NYC pools are open for business. Even better? Pool hours have been extended today so residents can cool off during these soaring temps.
According to the NYC Parks Department, all Olympic and intermediate-sized pools will remain open today until 8 pm, so kick off that holiday on the right foot with a few extra laps. Considering a heat advisory is in effect until 11pm, this is a great way to #BeatTheHeat and we're pumped to take advantage of this welcomed opportunity.

Today you might be concerned with finding the closest pool in proximity to your apartment (and understandably so) but when you have some time to explore (and the heat isn't quite as unbearable) take a trip to NYC's Cool Pools. Thanks to this $350,000 initiative, five pools across each borough received new paint jobs, umbrellas, chairs and art, just in time for summer fun.
